Last week I had an interview with a company that provides technical support for a sattelite TV company. It is a work at home company and I thought it would be good to make some extra money. My wife is a full time student entering Seminary in three weeks, and is a part time pastor of three small Churches in our area.

I wanted to try to help out with a small part time job. The interview went well, I was not nervous. I decided to just be myself, and answer the questions to the best of my ability. I have been handling customers for years in my home with a small recording studio, so I thought I would do ok with this.

I thought my interviewer was very nice, and she also helped put me at ease. It was easy to talk to her and it seemed I was a sure thing for them to hire!

Well today I got an email saying:

Hello, I am writing to thank you for applying and interviewing for the work at home Customer Care Representative Position. After careful evaluation, I must inform you that we have selected other candidates for the position based on the best match between the job requirements and the person’s qualifications.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors

Thank you.

Well, needless to say, I am feeling a little useless and down. But I know I have abilities, and talents that I use everyday, this will not be the end of the world. I will continue working on my music tracks, recording people and trying to play gigs.

It would have been a change for me to have to be doing something for several hours a day, but I think I could have done a good job for them.

We’ll never know!

The thing I remember most about my grandfather passing away was that several people brought Chicken Noodle Soup to my Grandma’s house. I mean four or five BIG Bowls of it! Just chicken noodle soup!

Fast forward to now. My wife’s mother was found dead in her apartment on Monday, June 16, 2008. She was 78 years old. They think her actual time of death was around 5:00AM the day before. (Father’s Day) 

My wife’s mother was hard to get along with, I don’t mean that disrepectfully, but she had her own way and it was usually easier to just let her be. We tried many times through my 20 years with my wife to make things go right with her mom but it never lasted long. I feel kinda bad about that, but there isn’t anything we can do about it now.

Tomorrow is the memorial service for Lillian. It is sad that she is gone, because I am one who thinks maybe if we had tried one more time we might have gotten it right. But I know that is not how it works. Sad as it is to say this, she died alone because she put herself in the position of being alone. She chose to be the way she was and eventually everybody she came in contact with just drifted away.

Today I was out for about a half an hour and when I pulled up outside my house a friend of ours from our old Church was dropping off something on my porch. It turned out to be two big pans of fried chicken! Thank God is wasn’t Chicken Noodle Soup! that would have been too wierd!

I immediatly thought of my Grandpap, and all that chicken noodle soup. Chicken!

A little later on our neighbor Cheryl and her daughter brought us some stuff like lunch meat and chips and she knows how much I love coffee, so she bought me some of that too. (No chicken noodle soup!)

I guess the point of all this is to say that when someone dies, someone outside that persons family circle is always there to deliver the one thing that we don’t think about at a time of loss. Feeding ourselves. It is true, we have not sat down to a meal since Sunday at Cracker Barrel when we met the family for Fathers Day.

Tomorrow at 1:00PM we will all get together and remember Lil, even though she was hard to get along with she deserves that. People are coming from far and wide to be there. I just hope that someone can remember a good thing that she did. I know that one of the things she did a long time ago was keep my wife’s step brothers together when she devorced her first husband. She would not let those boys be separated! That was a good thing. She did the right thing then, and when she married my Father in Law Thomas, she did the right thing again. Cause my wife is the most wonderful woman I ever knew, and since I believe that we are carbon copies of our parents, I know that my wife’s heart of gold came from her mother as much as it came from her father.

Food and Death. We all have to eat and we all have to die. Someday we will know the truth about the point of life. I know the truth of some things, and I am looking forward to seeing a lot of people who have left us all behind!

They are too high, it’s time our government did something to help Americans.

From what I understand, there is oil in Enola PA. Enough oil to get Saudi Arabia’s attention and get them to start producing oil. (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

Gasoline is at $399.00 per gallon in Altoona PA! Other places it is over $4.00. We were away over the weekend and in Grantham PA it was $4.07 per gallon.

Our country can’t go on with our daily business with gas prices this high. The economy is going to suffer for sure. (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

Hey while I am thinking about it, remember September 11, 2001? The single worst act of terrorism on American soil. EVER! Terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center and tried to destroy the Pentagon! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

WHAT THE HECK DO YOU CALL $4.07 PER GALLON OF GAS!!!!!!!? The second worst act of terrorism on American soil! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

Can anyone tell me why we can’t use our own oil to make our gas? What the heck happened to that Alaskan Pipeline? When I was growing up that is all we ever heard about. I thought we were going to get oil from Alaska and we were going to make gasoline with it and be ok! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

We have to get our oil from Saudi Arabia? Don’t they HATE US!? (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

I don’t know, I drive just as much as I always did, I should cut down on small trips, but then I would have to drink my own coffee instead of driving five minutes to Starbucks and getting it. I would also have to miss out on my conversations with my brother who I meet at Starbucks. Well, he could come over to my place, but then it might not be as good since we won’t be out in public where we might run into someone else we know. (This is just one example!)

In other words, my life would be less because of the price of gas, my fear of running out of gas would hinder my existance and I would be forced to live my life counter to the way I want to live it.  Isn’t that what terrorists want us to do, live in fear? (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

We need to make the oil producing countries think we are going to use our own oil. We need to make them think we are going to drill our own oil and refine our own oil. We need to do it today.

Just start drilling, the heck with a couple of migratory birds that may or may not die because we drill for oil. It would be a shame if one animal had to die because we were drilling for oil. But the way the roads are littered with dead animals just from us swerving to hit them I don’t think anyone would notice another one or two! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

Environmentalists SHUT UP! The environment is screwed! Not because we might drill for oil but because use oil all over the planet! One oil tanker disaster would do more damage than a properly controled oil company drilling for oil! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

When the big oil producing countries realize we are drilling our own oil they will start producing it by barrels full and the price will go way down. What are we waiting for? (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

And America needs to cut down on driving. Make one trip do more, use public transportation.

Oh yeah, one more thing. FLOOD YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS WITH MAIL!!! The old fashioned kind that requires a stamp. Use a pen, write it with your hand, lick the stamp, (OK you can use the self stick ones, you can’t buy any other kind!) Seal the envelope and WALK to the mailbox!

Send a lot of letters, saying that you are not going to vote for them if the price of gas stays high! Use the power of the Constitution, that says we have a voice! (If anyone reading this has better info please reply to my blog and straighten me out!)

Last week on Tuesday my wife and I and a friend had the oppertunity to attend the Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast at the Camp Hill Radisson.  It was a really good breakfast. We ate with State Senator John Eichelberger and several men from The Lighthouse Mens Fellowship that I attend on Saturday mornings. State Representative Rick Geist and John each chipped in to get us all tickets for the breakfast.

It is completely funded by personal money not state money, and there are several Senators and Congress people who do this every year.

This was not my first time to go and hopefully it won’t be my last. 

After the breakfast, I spoke with Catheryn Baker Knoll our Luitenant Governer, and our Attorney General Tom Corbett.  We had some pictures taken as well and when I get them I will try to post them here.

We went down to the Capital building and had a tour with some Elementary kids who were very well behaved!  When we got to the Senate Gallery there was a sign posted with all the things you aren’t allowed to do in the Gallery. I have posted that picture here.

I guess the one I can’t understand is NO BALLOONS!  That one is weird!

Anyway, we went around to all the sights in the building and then we went to John E’s office and he had his assistant take us to the floor of the senate, and when you are down there, there is really something different about the room than when you are in the gallery. There is real history there. Pennsylvania laws have been made there, and yes even some things that they probably aren’t too proud of like the last pay raise scandal!

It makes you stop and think that really all these people are trying to do is make this state the best there is, and I believe if we keep thinking positivly we will be the best!

That is all for now, just wanted to post this picture and ask you the reader to make some comments about why we can’t have newspapers and magazines in the gallery, and why we can’t have balloons in the gallery and why more people don’t make a trip to our capital both state and federal and see what our lawmakers are doing with our money.

I think this country is confused.  We have all these tv and movie stars in the headlines all the time. Doing whatever they can to attract attention to themselves. Brittney is drunk, Paris is in jail for theft, etc… Then we can’t wait to see the video on the news!

Now we have Miley Cyrus 15 years old! Miley Cyrus half naked on a magazine cover and all because her mommy and daddy said it was ok.  What a lovely family they must be. Hannah Montana!  My brothers kids watch that show! Half naked on a magazine cover, I AM CONFUSED! I thought they outlawed CHILD PORN!

Lets lay out the scenerio, I am 45 years old. Lets say I know a 15 year old girl and ask her to come to my house and pose with nothing on but a bed sheet. Then I post those pictures on the internet.  What do you think would happen to me?

I WOULD BE ARRESTED AND JAILED!

I WOULD BE LABELED A PEDOPHILE!

I WOULD BE LISTED AS A CHILD PREDATOR!

I WOULD HAVE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHEN I MOVE INTO A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD!

MY LIFE WOULD BE WORTHLESS, AND OVER!!!!!

Can you understand my confusion yet? Annie Leibowitz was the photographer who shot the pics of Miley Cyrus with nothing but a bed sheet. I don’t care what anyone says, there should be a limit on what can be labeled as “FREE SPEECH”. I think that ammendment is used too often to explain behavior that is simply not acceptable.

Hey I have the right to burn the American flag! That right is covered under the free speech clause. The question is “Should I burn the American flag?” The answer is positively NO! It would not be the right thing to do, even if I have the right to do it.

There should be laws protecting kids like Miley Cyrus from bad parenting, and this photographer should be arrested for even thinking about taking these pictures. That magazine should be fined for promoting and selling Child Porn.

This country is allowing people to take our Constitutional rights and twist them around to satisfy thier own personal agenda. I don’t think our fore fathers wrote that first ammendment so that we can just do things to see how outrageous we can be.

I sure don’t think our Veterans fought and some of them died, for the right to take dirty pictures of little kids all because the first ammendment says we have the right to free speech.

Billy Ray Cyrus is Miley’s father. What was he thinking while these pictures were being taken of his daughter? How could a father allow something like that to even happen? I am appalled at how easy it is for the people in the limelight to act like trailer trash, and how willing the American people are to see it, buy it, and support it. It’s time we let the media know we don’t want this kind of entertainment. It’s time we take responsability for our actions and most of all we need to protect our children, not just Miley Cyrus, but all of our children.

Protect them from media garbage like this photo shoot, and I for one will be sending a letter to the dirty minded photographer and her rag of a mag!
